They have never hosted a party; I've never met any of their erstwhile friends. They just seem content in each other's company. They're not on social media either. And yet I would be lost without friendship. I have never had a relationship; I am 100% certain that I shall never marry, and I have nothing whatsoever in common with my immediate family, or the people I work with. Friendship therefore affords me intelligent conversation, shared interests, respite, good food and wine. My heart goes out to the trapped husband and father.
