John Paul II is listed not once, but twice in the Rorate-Caeli purgatorial posting. Perhaps they have adapted to the Byzantine view that the saints become greater in heaven?
I clearly should have read through the list of souls more carefully! I'm one of the forty priests offering the traditional Mass for the repose of the souls of the Purgatorial Society. Interesting addition! So, who's next? Papa Roncalli?
Oops, my mistake, but the point holds. It is borderline schism and heresy to deny that any of the 20th century popes (other than Benedict XV and Pius XI) were instant saints at the moment of their accession!

ReplyDeleteit's the 1st...not the 2nd.
ReplyDeleteYep, JP1 aka Albino Luciani aka the September (1978) Pope. RIP.
